ABOUT ELEVATE SKYSHOW
In a joint collaboration featuring cutting-edge technology, art and a First Nations narrative, the inaugural ELEVATE Sydney festival features an innovative drone show, the largest of its kind in Australia.
Commissioned by Destination NSW and created and produced by AGB Events, the ELEVATE Sydney festival features a SkyShow every evening at 10pm, blending art and technology to create an entirely new form of night-time entertainment. Consisting of 500 dancing drones performing above Sydney cove to an epic bespoke soundtrack, the ELEVATE SkyShow is the biggest drone show in the Southern Hemisphere.
A leading team of creatives was assembled to to design the show, comprising Creative Director Anthony Bastic, First Nations Advisor Rhoda Roberts AO, Rhyan Clapham (DJ- Dobby) and Senior Producer Olivia Bradley. They then approached world-class drone practitioners Intel to help bring the vision to life. Intel, the technologists responsible for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, travelled to Australia from Germany, United States and Finland to program the show.CEO and Creative Director of AGB Events, Anthony Bastic said the collaboration and combined effort has resulted in something really special.
“The coupling of technologies and applying them to outdoor public events greatly enhances the audience experience and will certainly set a benchmark for future events. This world-class initiative really positions NSW as a leader in event innovation, and what a stunning debut it will be over Sydney Harbour,” Mr Bastic said
“We’re very grateful for the support and efforts of the many agencies who have worked with us to realise this project. This is an industry we really want to nurture and promote, the Intel Pilots travelling to Australia and sharing their knowledge is an amazing opportunity to grow the expertise of local drone operators.”
As a further enhancement, AGB Events engaged international augmented reality artist Charles Clapshaw of Future of Art, to overlay an augmented reality experience to the drone show. Visitors to Circular Quay will be able to scan the QR codes on site or follow the instructions listed above, and enjoy added visual elements, enhancing their live experience.
