Chrissie the Cockatoo is back, this time with her mate Benny the Seal. You may already know Benny. He rose to fame as a much-loved regular visitor to Sydney Opera House, where he sunbathes on the steps every Winter.
Benny will take you on an underwater journey. From the ancient past of this age-old water way that once nourished the Gadigal People to present day Sydney Harbour brimming with life.
All with the help of over 600 state-of-the-art drones dancing in a black night sky over the world’s most stunning harbour.
The soundtrack is composed by DOBBY, and narrated by Uncle Matty Doyle and Kelsey Iris, all of whom are descendants of the Murruwarri people of North Western NSW. As river people, their collaboration on this soundtrack is significant given that the central theme of this year’s ELEVATE Sydney SkyShow is water and ecological sustainability.
DOBBY, a Filipino Murrawarri Hip Hop artist composed the hauntingly beautiful musical score which opens with a magical introduction from Kelsey Iris.
We then dive together with Benny the seal into an underwater story about sustainability and marine life, as told by one of Australia’s most respected First Nations advisors, Uncle Matty Doyle.
It is a magical experience and significant story, not to be missed.
ELEVATE Nights ticketholders have one of the best seats in the house, but the SkyShow can also be enjoyed outside the ELEVATE site. You can enjoy the show up close in Circular Quay or from further afield from vantage points in Kirribilli, Woolloomooloo, Potts Point and beyond.
